CARBON!!!!!!!!

Carbon is the bases of life because it can make lots of bonds. What does that mean? That mean more COMPOUNDS or a mixture of elements.

Why is life based on carbon? Why does such simplicity create such complexity?

First of all, carbon isn't stable. It is missing two of the needed electrons that can make it stable. Because of this, carbon can mix with almost any other element. The simplicity is that carbon has four bonds that can bind to itself that can make carbon add to others. It is the system of arrangement of spontaneous bonding that will create compounds.

WARNING!!!!!!

From here on out it is going to be notes and things I understood in the class, so please forgive me if i don't have my story straight!!!

From the Beggining Part 2 (Chapter 1)

What is science? This is a question that was asked boefore we started our class. It is a good question. Do you want to know my answer was? EVERYTHING! And without a beat I got it wrong. :( Sigh... Well, the actual answer is: It is the phylosophy of thought measured by math to answer questions. You can't answer all questions with science just certian ones. One question that can't be answered is: How was the whole entire space was made? I thought, us humans, had the answer, but we don't. Look at it like this

Solar System<--- Big Bang<--- Galaxy<---Universe<--- atom<---?

Our solar system was made by the big bang. The dieing star that made the big gang came from our Galaxy. The Galaxy came from the Universe (the combination of all Galaxies) and everything started from an atom spilting. But where did the atom come from? Exactly! Science doesn't know the answer, so where do we as humans turn to? Faith (religion).

In conclusion, science can't explain the supernatural!

From the Beginning!

In our class, before we started on the subject of Biology, we began with how to study because our teacher said that this lecture would help us.

How to study:

Before you read, trick the brain. Look at your book and put your hands between the first page you have to read and the last and tell yourself "this is easy!" and play with it between your hands. Your tricking your brain the brain to believe that what you are reading is going to be easy. Then, look at the pictures and captions. By doing this you are telling your brain that most of what's in the textbook is pictures and diagrams and IT IS!
When you start to read do something like: take notes. Yeah, yeah... I 've heard it before. "It's boring and I fall alseep." Wrong type of notes. I'm not talking about just copying everything down. This is what i'm talking about:

By doing this, you keep your hands busy and not only is it a great way to take notes but also it helps you understand what you are reading.

Or try Cornell style which ever way it's doing something with your hands.

Taking notes helps you avoid sleeping while doing this and if it is still happening put a little music on. Warning: NO SLOW SONGS! this WILL make you sleepy!

When you're done with your mind mapping look over your notes to make sure you've got everything and don't be afraid to write questions that you can ask your teacher before/during/after class. Lastly, REVIEW! Study your notes everyday for 10 minutes to 20 minutes tops. This will help you keep up with information. And when you're done...guess what you get to do? PARTY!!!! Take a breather by taking a nap, eating a snack, or watching a little bit of TV. This will help you relax for all your hard work. Also, your brain will want to do it again because guess what? It gets rewards for doing it's hard work! And for us teenagers, we tend not to do anything without rewards at the end of the tunnel.

Gene Regulation

What is a GENE?
–noun
the basic physical unit of heredity; a linear sequence of nucleotides along a segment of DNA that provides the coded instructions for synthesis of RNA, which, when translated into protein, leads to the expression of hereditary character. (1)

In simple words that even a third grader can understand:

Genes are short pieces of DNA that makes protiens that tells your body what traits make you. You get your genes from your PARENTS! As an example if your mom and dad have brown eyes, you're most likely to get brown eyes. They do this by the genes producing protiens that tell your cells what to produce such aas curly hair. Protiens would tell the hair cells to curl your hair from genetics.
When genes make a nonfunctional protiens it turns into a cancer. The build up of cancer is a tumor. Cancer can be geneticlly inherited. White blood cells do try to fight the cancerous cells because the mutated cell is not part of your body but since caner cells divide so quickly they can't get them all.

All I'm asking is that you read my work and comment and also correct my information if I have anything wrong, ok? Careful of what you say in here please and keep everything PG-13 with no cursing!!!! This is for a grade! Well, consider me under constrution!
